“Roses” 12×9 Pastel

I believe it was my Junior year in High School that I was introduced to the wonderful art of pastel.  This piece was the 3rd, and last, pastel that I created.  When I look at this I envision a warm sunny day with a slight breeze.  I’m not sure how purposeful I was at the time, but I do love how I captured the flow of the basic color of green and red that vibrantly begins in the flowers and leaves, and then becomes muted in the background.  This technique creates a warm continuity that surrounds this piece.
