Grandma’s House

When I was painting this, my mind wandered to thinking about the people who may have lived in this home.  As time went on and the painting took shape, I envisioned an elderly couple who had lived contently together for 50 years, had raised a bunch of children and had a long and meaningful life.  I believe that when they walk around in their cozy home, they look out of the window to see the world and all who pass.  The more alive they became in my mind, the easier it was to create a home that was warm, loving and inviting.  The only problem I had with the painting was at the very end when I realized that I made the house too short and I needed to add the last 4 house clapboards. I bet that the couple found this to be quite humorous!
