In November 2011, I painted our family pet, Ginger. Ginger thought she was human and frequently sat like this in her chair, always looking at us with an all-knowing look. One of the things that I like about this painting is the whimsical style that I created to capture her very regal attitude. I was also very pleased to have accurately captured her beautiful, bold and loving eyes. There are a few secrets to the painting. On the back, you will find Ginger’s “signature,” her paw prints. On the front, you will see her real heart-shaped dog tag that she always wore. The original painting hangs in my house and three copies of it, complete with paw prints, decorate my children’s apartments.
